The FCP-22L precision fibre cleaver is a tool for cleaving single optical fibres. This cleaver can accomodate both 250 and 900um coatings. The cleaver has a sliding shuttle which passes a very sharp rotatable blade beneath the glass fibre. The blade scores the fibre creating a minute flaw in the glass. When the cleaver anvil stresses the fibre the glass fractures at the score mark, leaving a perpendicular and smooth fibre end face suitable for splicing.
